About the Course
B.Sc. Agriculture is a four-year degree course, divided into eight semesters. Agriculture (also called farming) is an applied science, which covers all aspects of crop production as well as horticulture, livestock rearing, dairy farming, and forestry. It utilizes appropriate technologies developed on scientific principles such as crop varieties through breeding, production techniques, natural resources, agricultural engineering, crop protection, economics etc. to maximize the yield and profit. In modern times, agriculture is also a business that aims at maximum net return through the management of land, labour, water and capital, applying the knowledge of various sciences for production of food, feed, fibre and fuel.
During each semester, the course is taught theoretically and practically with seminar presentations as well as assignments (on different subjects) by teachers and students. The course also includes on farm training and hands on experiments enthusing confidence in the graduating students of Agriculture.
